Meet Becky Squire of Make Mine Happy
Tell us about you and your business journey.
I am a mother of four, ages 5 to 12. I have always loved staying home with my kids, but often needed some kind of creative outlet. I have also loved writing for as long as I can remember. I started freelance writing and found that I especially enjoyed writing about marriage, motherhood, and faith. After receiving a lot of positive feedback, I decided to start my blog where I share tips, challenges, and quality content inspiring others to strengthen their most important relationships.
Tell us about your business and why you started it.
My blog is Make Mine Happy. I started writing because I truly want to inspire and encourage others to strengthen their most important relationships: marriage, parenthood, and their faith. I take pride in writing quality content. I work hard on each and every article and always strive to make sure it’s positive and uplifting. You won’t find “fluff” articles just to take up space or draw people in. My hope is that when people visit my blog, they will want to become part of the Make Mine Happy community.
Being a mompreneur is tough and time is tight. What are favorite time saving tips? (These can be related to cooking, kids, business, church, anything)
I have found that when I keep my priorities straight, everything falls into place. Sometimes I tend to obsess over a new blog idea and all my energy gets sucked into it. Consequently, my family life begins to suffer and I just feel overwhelmed. When I remember to start the day with prayer and focus on my kids when they are around me, I always find enough time to work.
What has been your biggest trial in business and how have you overcome it?
My biggest trial has probably been finding a way to write about some controversial issues. There are a few difficult issues that people I know and love are dealing with, and it is just plain hard to write something that I think will give them hope. So if any of you have any suggestions, I’m all ears!
What are you reading or listening to right now? (books, podcasts, etc…)
Ironically, I’m not a big reader. But I am loving the podcast by Jody Moore called Bold New Mom. She teaches women how to deal with so many relevant issues and how to truly be happy. Give it a listen!
